Romania voted 'yes' to adopting OOXML as an ISO standard in the March 23 meeting of CT210, the technical comittee in charge, part of ASRO, the Romanian Standardization Association. The vote was spread 15 for, 6 against, 5 abstentions.
Members of the committee have reportedly multiplied suddenly only a short time before the vote, CT210 growing from 12 members (who have been members for a long time) to 26 or 27. Many of the new members are Microsoft business partners.
ASRO is so far refusing to offer any further information on the subject, citing internal regulations that prevent it and any technical commitee members from disclosing any such information. CT210 members have also refrained from making public statements since it is not clear what the fallout would be if they did so.
