In many nations teams gathered to celebrate the document freedom day. Roughly 200 teams from more than 60 countries worldwide were organising local activities to raise awareness for Document Freedom and Open Standards. In Berlin the FFII teamed up with the FSFE and donated a cake to the Foreign Office for their commitment towards standard openess. Malte Kirchner said: "Administration has the duty to ensure, that its processes are transparent on a long term scale. With regard to electronic data only open standards provide this. Mr Schuster from the Foreign Office indicated that he also participates in DIN discussions on OOXML and seeks improvements.

And even Microsoft participated, http://documentfreedomday.com points to the Microsoft "OOXML community" website, "Dispelling common myth about OOXML". From our list:
I am just amazed and shocked by the depths to which Microsoft is willing to descend.

www.documentfreedomday.com
