ECMA International response 1024 to the comment 0001 of Ireland1
Agreed; the Normative References clauses for part 1, 2, 3 and 5 will be replaced with the following:
Part 1:
…
Maimon, Rabbi Moshe ben, Complete Restatement of the Oral Law (Mishneh Torah).
Ireland's comment was:
The DIS refers to a large number of additional technical specifications which are not explicitly listed as Normative References.

Moses Maimonides (March 30, 1135 Córdoba, Spain – December 13, 1204 Fostat, Egypt), was a rabbi, physician, and philosopher in Andalusia, Morocco and Egypt during the Middle Ages. He was one of the various medieval Jewish philosophers who also influenced the non-Jewish world. Although his copious works on Jewish law and ethics were initially met with opposition during his lifetime, he was posthumously acknowledged to be one of the foremost rabbinical arbiters and philosophers in Jewish history. Today, his works and his views are considered a cornerstone of Jewish thought and study.

Especially sharp was the blame [in the 12 century] heaped upon Maimonides because he neglected to cite his sources; this was considered an evidence of his superciliousness, since it made it difficult, if not absolutely impossible, for scholars to verify his statements, and compelled them to follow his decisions absolutely.
Which reminds us of ECMA-376 aka OOXML that claims to be better backwards compatible to the existing documents in Microsoft binary format than ISO 26300 but ECMA cannot prove it. Yet, it wants ECMA-376 to become the second ISO standard for the very same purpose.
I wonder if ECMA also would agree to add the following references:
