						 <p>From the official statement:</p> <blockquote> <p>In Latvia there is strong lobbying from both supporters and opponents of<br /> &quot;Open XML&quot; DIS. Acknowledging importance of this standard for whole<br /> industry however Latvia is against approval of this standard in existing<br /> form due following reasons:</p> <p>1. There is a growing evidence that &quot;Open XML&quot; DIS lacks crucial<br /> information necessary for actual Open XML parser creation. We find this<br /> fact disturbing.<br /> 2. &quot;Open XML&quot; DIS solutions for links, forms, math equations, vector<br /> graphics, date representation and several other are not in conformance<br /> with existing standards. We believe this is against a common practice<br /> how new standards should be created.</p> <p>We believe that &quot;Open XML&quot; DIS needs serious revision and after solving<br /> most crucial issues can be again proposed for review.</p> </blockquote>
